LATEST FARMERS’ EVENING TO HEAR FROM NFU POLITICAL EXPERT

27th Jan 2020
Mark Holmes external affairs manager at the NFU

Local farmers will have the chance to hear from the NFU’s external affairs manager when he makes an appearance as guest speaker at the latest Lovewell Blake/Suffolk Coastal NFU Farmers’ Evening in Halesworth on Wednesday 12th February.

Mark Holmes will be giving a broad overview of the political situation just two months after a resounding General Election victory for the Conservatives.  He will outline the political priorities and risks for British agriculture, as well as talking about the implications of a variety of outside influences, including Brexit, climate change and Net Zero, and the challenges of overseas trade once the UK leaves the EU.

Mr Holmes has broad political experience working three general elections, a referendum and a party leadership election.  He has worked for a prominent backbench MP, a member of the House of Lords and the influential Conservative Environment Network, where he led the lobby group as its Interim Director.  He joined the NFU in October having worked as a political consultant for a variety of renewable energy companies.

“We are delighted to welcome Mark Holmes to our latest Farmers’ Evening, which will be a great opportunity for local farmers to hear about the current political situation and how it affects farming, from someone who is very close to what is happening at Westminster,” said Lovewell Blake agricultural services partner Ryan Lincoln, who will introduce Mr Holmes at the meeting.

“These farmers’ evenings are always a convivial way of catching up with the latest developments in the farming world.”

The Farmers’ Evening is one of a series of such presentations organised by Lovewell Blake’s agriculture team, in conjunction with Suffolk Coastal NFU.  The event takes place at Halesworth Golf Club on Wednesday 12th February at 7.30pm, and will include a buffet.  Attendance is free; to book a place, call Ryan Lincoln on 01986 873163 or email r.lincoln@lovewell-blake.co.uk.
