KEY NFU PARLIAMENTARY LOBBYIST TO ADDRESS LATEST FARMERS EVENING

The need for farmers to build closer relationships with politicians in order to shape agricultural policy will be the focus of the first joint Lovewell Blake/NFU Farmers’ Evening of 2025, which takes place at Halesworth Golf Club on Wednesday 5th March.
National Farmers Union external affairs manager Neeve McGinty will be speaking about the NFU’s lobbying work in Westminster following the Chancellor’s announcement in the Budget on the proposed changes to Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief, a topic which has dominated rural debate since Rachel Reeves revealed the policy in October.
Ms McGinty will also outline other political changes which have resulted from last year’s change of government at the General Election and the importance of building relationships with new MPs, as well as talking about the launch of the NFU’s Food and Farming Fellowship.
As part of the NFU’s Westminster team, Neeve McGinty is responsible for delivering its external affairs strategy, building collaborative relationships with key external politicians, civil servants and stakeholders, and raising the NFU’s campaigning and lobbying profile in Westminster. Over the past year, she has worked on the organisation’s General Election strategy and the #StopTheFamilyFarmTax campaign.
Lovewell Blake agricultural partner Ryan Lincoln, who will be chairing the event, said, “The announcement in last autumn’s Budget was a bombshell for the farming community, and underlines the importance of the sector building and maintaining quality relationships with the politicians who will shape future agricultural policy in the UK.
“The NFU has been at the forefront of the lobbying efforts, and it will be fascinating to hear from a member of its Westminster team about the activity – both seen and unseen – which the NFU is undertaking on farming’s behalf at the heart of government..”
The event takes place at Halesworth Golf club on Wednesday 5th March at 7.15pm, and the presentation will be followed by a buffet supper. Attendance is free, but places need to be booked in advance, by visiting https://www.lovewell-blake.co.uk/events.
