DROUGHT AND FLOOD RESILIENCE THE FOCUS OF NEXT AYSLHAM AGRICULTURAL BREAKFAST
Improving drought and flood resilience using nature-based solutions, alongside mitigating climate change by restoring wetlands and planting trees, will be the focus of the next Lovewell Blake Aylsham Agricultural Breakfast on Thursday 5th November.
Henry Walker, who has been senior farm conservation adviser for Norfolk FWAG for more than two decades, will be the main speaker at the event, which takes place at Youngs Park in the town.
Mr Walker graduated with an Ecology degree from UEA in 2000, focussing his studies on nature conservation on farmland, working on arable farms in Norfolk and livestock farms in the Hebrides.
He then went on to work on both coastal & wetland nature reserves and a research project on agri-environmental schemes for farmland birds before joining FWAG.
“With over 70% of the UK dedicated to agriculture, this is where we can make the greatest contribution to biodiversity conservation and bring about environmental change at a landscape scale,” he said.
Also speaking at the event will be Lovewell Blake agricultural partner Chris Solt, who will give a topical update following the Chancellor John Healey’s first Budget the previous week.
The Aylsham Agricultural Breakfast takes place on Thursday 5th November from 8.30am at Youngs Park, Aylsham. The event is free and includes breakfast, but places must be reserved in advance at www.lovewell-blake.co.uk/events/event/aylsham-farmers-november.
