Around £3,000 was raised for good causes in East Anglia when staff from 12 local businesses gathered for the annual Lovewell Blake Rounders Tournament at the British Sugar Sports and Social Club in Bury St Edmunds.

A team from NXTGEN Recruitment ended up as 2026 champions, beating hosts Lovewell Blake in the final.

Those taking part were also raising money for the Lovewell Blake Community Fund, which gives grants of up to £2,000 to charities, voluntary groups and community organisations, and which has distributed more than £420,000 since its establishment in 2008.  With match-funding from Lovewell Blake, around £3,000 was raised for the Fund at the event.

Abi Robinson, audit director at Lovewell Blake’s Bury St Edmunds office, said, “It was one of those evenings where the heat made standing still feel like exercise, but that didn’t stop everyone throwing themselves into the tournament.

“There was plenty of healthy competition, lots of laughs and a few sporting talents that had clearly been hiding in plain sight.  It was a brilliant evening, and we're delighted to have raised money for such a worthwhile cause.

“The tournament has become a fixture in the business calendar in Bury St Edmunds, and we are already planning the 2027 event, when hopefully Lovewell Blake can go one better and reclaim the trophy!”
