BURY ACCOUNTANT GOES DUTCH IN GRUELLING CYCLE CHALLENGE

28th May 2016
Accountant Paul Milton prepares for his charity bike ride in the Lovewell Blake offices in Bury St Edmunds

A Bury St Edmunds accountant is preparing to go Dutch as he sets off on a 254 mile charity cycle ride to Amsterdam, raising money for Prostate Cancer UK and the Friends of Ipswich Town Football Club.

Paul Milton will also take part in a special football match at AZ Alkmaar during the trip, to mark the 35th anniversary of Ipswich Town winning the UEFA Cup

Paul, a manager at Lovewell Blake’s Bury St Edmunds office, will be cycling as part of Team ITFC in the annual Football to Amsterdam Challenge, which sees teams from football clubs all over the UK taking part to raise money for the prostate cancer charity.  Last year’s event raised around £350,000.

The ride takes place over three days from Friday 3rd June, with the football match taking place at the training ground of AZ Alkmaar, the team Ipswich beat 5-4 on aggregate in the UEFA Cup Final in 1981, on Sunday 5th June.

Paul Milton said, “I took part in this event last year, and was amazed at the effort put in by the cyclists.  This year it looks even tougher, with a football match thrown in!

“On a personal note, last year my father in law underwent treatment for prostate cancer and I am happy to say has made a full recovery.  He had nothing but praise for all the staff involved in the process and to do something to help this is a real bonus.”
