£5,500 RAISED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES AT CHARITY TENPIN BOWLING EVENT

More than £5,500 has been raised for local good causes as a result of a charity tenpin bowling evening organised by staff at Lovewell Blake’s Halesworth office.

More than 80 competitors from 14 local businesses took part in the annual event in support of the firm’s LB150 Challenge – an ongoing initiative to raise money for charities and local community groups across Norfolk and Suffolk.

The money raised was boosted by an auction and raffle on the night, with prizes donated by local businesses and those participating, as well as generous matching of funds raised by Barclays Bank and the partners at Lovewell Blake.

The evening was hosted by Rob Mayes-Smith and his staff at Richardson’s Family Bowl in Lowestoft, who also donated an annual family membership package, and novelty skittles which were auctioned off at the end of the evening.

Halesworth-based Kerslake Construction was the overall winner, taking the crown from last year’s champions, GS Computers of Loddon.

Event organiser Matthew Waters from Lovewell Blake’s Halesworth office said, “Once again we are very proud of the amount we have raised at our annual bowling evening, money which will support some of the region’s smaller charities and community projects.

“The evening is always a good opportunity to bring together an interesting mix of businesses, and we would like to thank everyone who helped us reach such a fantastic total.  We are already planning next year’s event.”

The LB150 Challenge was originally set up to mark Lovewell Blake’s 150th anniversary in 2008, with a goal of raising £150,000.  Since then the firm has raised around £210,000, benefitting more than 100 charities.  The Fund is administered by the Norfolk and Suffolk Community Foundations.  More details can be found at www.lovewell-blake.co.uk/our-giving
