Work has started on the construction of 95 new homes in Great Ellingham.  The £16 million project, which is due to be completed in phases between November 2020 and December 2022 will see a mixture of open market and affordable homes being constructed.

Flagship Group’s delivery manager Michael Cramp joined Paul Pitcher, managing director of contractor Wellington, to cut the first sod at the site on Attleborough Road in the village.

A mixture of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses will be built on the site, which will also see a new roundabout constructed to improve traffic flow through the village.

Mr Cramp said, “We have worked closely with a number of partners, including Wellington Construction, to reach this point.  This development serves as a good example of how different organisations working together can reach a common, beneficial goal - enabling us to increase both the pace and scale of our new home delivery.

“Great Ellingham will not only provide an element of affordable homes, but solve a significant local issue by dedicating land to improve the surrounding infrastructure.”

The new homes are being built by Lowestoft-based contractor Wellington, which has a long track record of delivering both affordable and open market homes for housing associations and local authorities in the region.

Wellington managing director Paul Pitcher said, “We are delighted to be working with Flagship once again, having recently completed open market and mixed tenure projects in Campsea Ashe and in Aldeburgh.

“Both projects have proved to be a resounding success with design and sales, and we are proud of the quality product that we have delivered.”
