WELLBEING DAY FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH SIGHT LOSS TO TAKE PLACE IN NORWICH

26th Sep 2025
Sue Warnes Bradbury Centre

People living with sight loss, along with their families, carers and friends, are being invited to a special Wellbeing Event which will offer advice, activities and support in a friendly and inclusive environment.

Norfolk’s sight loss charity Vision Norfolk is hosting the day at its Norwich hub on Wednesday 1st October, with a range of other charities and organisations taking part.

Alongside access to support and advice, visitors will be able to explore the latest equipment and accessible technology; pick up healthy eating tips; take part in gentle seated activities; and try hands-on craft activities.

Organisations taking part in the day include Age UK Norwich, NHS Wellbeing Service, HumanWare, Optelec UK, Big C Cancer Charity, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Trading Standards, Our Power (energy advice), Chatterbox Talking News, Norfolk County Council Sensory Support Unit, Hear for Norfolk, and the Samaritans.

“Recent research by the RNIB shows that vision impaired adults are five times more likely to report poor health compared with those without sight loss, with barriers including access to fresh food, exercise, and social connections, said Sue Warnes, community outreach worker at Vision Norfolk.

“This event is about breaking down those barriers.  We want to give people the chance to explore new ideas, meet supportive organisations, and discover ways to boost their wellbeing in a sight-loss friendly space.”

The event, which takes place on Wednesday 1st October from 10.30am until 3pmat Vision Norfolk’s Norwich hub at Bradbury Activity Centre, Beckham Place, Edward Street, Norwich NR3 3DZ, is free to attend. For more information call 01603 573000 or email office@visionnorfolk.org.uk.
