North Norfolk dog owners have the chance to meet other dog owners and their furry friends in a series of free Trainer-Led Community Dog Walks which are taking place in North Walsham and Cromer.

Organised by Victory Housing Trust, and led by professional dog trainer Ann Corcoran, the walks are designed to bring together people in the community who own dogs, and to help socialise their pets.

Ann, who has an advanced diploma in canine behaviour management and who runs north Norfolk dog training and canine behaviour company ‘The Other Side of the Dog’, will help owners guide their dog’s behaviour and understand its body language.

The walks have been organised by Victory Housing Trust, which last year was one of only 11 housing providers in the UK to be awarded a prestigious ‘Gold Footprint’ Award from the RSPCA, recognising its contribution to improving animal welfare in communities.

Jo Todd from Victory said, “We believe that when well-cared for and responsibly kept, pets can be an asset to any community.  Pet ownership involves responsibility for the animal itself and for other residents, and we work hard to bring all of these factors into balance – and these walks are part of our efforts to support people to keep pets responsibly and enjoyably.”

The walks, which are open to any dog owner, take place as follows:

  • North Walsham: Tuesdays 10am-11am – 27th Feb, 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th March; meet at Masters Court on Sadlers Way
  • Cromer: Thursdays 10am-11am – 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th March; meet at Runton Road car park

All dogs need to be on a lead, and under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.  No more than one dog per adult; additional family members are welcome.
