A Norwich firm of solicitors has been announced as the headline sponsor for the city’s Jazz Weekender jazz festival in the autumn.

Hatch Brenner Solicitors is supporting the three day event, which takes place across the first weekend of September, from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th.

The event will bring nationally- and internationally-known jazz musicians to the city, including James Tormé (son of jazz legend Mel Tormé), jazz/soul vocalist and pianist Liane Carroll, trumpeter Enrico Tomasso, and singer Georgia Mancio, accompanied by two-time Grammy award-winning pianist Alan Broadbent.

The three-day festival will see 14 separate gigs, as well as four workshops led by performers taking part in the weekend.  The event is run by the Norwich Jazz Club.  Venues include the EPIC Studios, OPEN, Norwich Playhouse and Platform 12 Piano Bar.

This is the second year that the festival has been sponsored by Hatch Brenner, which recently announced that it is also sponsoring the Theatre Royal’s drama season over the coming 12 months.

Hatch Brenner partner Mark Fitch said, “Norwich Jazz Club aims to bring world-class jazz musicians to Norwich for the Jazz Weekender, and we are so lucky that they are able to do that.  Events like this are a vital part of the cultural life of the city, and we are delighted to be supporting the festival once again.”

Jazz Weekender organiser Simon Brown added, “For a club like ours to bring such prestigious musicians to the city is a big ask, and the financial support provided by our sponsors is what makes it all possible.

“The continued support of Hatch Brenner as our headline sponsor, together with that of our individual show sponsors, has enabled us to extend the Weekender to three days this year from two last year – and has allowed us to attract a stellar line-up of musicians.”

The Norwich Jazz Weekender runs from Friday 2nd September to Sunday 4th September.  Full details are available at www.norwichjazzclub.co.uk.
