NWHS Christmas video grab

Teachers at North Walsham High School have become a Christmas internet sensation for the second year in a row – after they posted a YouTube video of them performing the classic festive hit ‘Rocking Around The Christmas Tree’.

Following a similar video posted last year to raise money for BandAid 30 was viewed by nearly 6,000 people, this year’s video received over 2,200 views in the first week.

The video features some individual – and in some cases quite alternative – performances from staff, who re-recorded the song and made the video under the direction of music teacher Lara Leuw-Gardner.

Viewers of the video are encouraged to click through to the East Anglian Children’s Hospices website (www.each.org.uk) and make a donation.

The first ‘artiste’ to be seen singing on the video is NWHS acting head teacher Ian Winter, who said, “I suspect that Adele has nothing to fear from us in terms of the Christmas number one spot, but we certainly brought a great deal of enthusiasm to our very own version of this Christmas classic.  The result is just over two minutes of gold – although whether it’s musical gold or comedy gold is up for debate.”
