Gin lovers and Norwich City fans queued up at Chantry Place at the weekend to get their hands on a limited edition celebration of City’s promotion to the Premier league – and to have it signed by one of the club’s legends.

Darren Huckerby, who scored 48 goals in a career spanning more than 200 matches for the Canaries, was on hand to sign bottles of a special ‘Goin’ Up’ gin, made by Norwich distillery Bullards.

Just 2021 bottles of the gin, which is flavoured with lemon peel and lemongrass and comes in a Canary yellow and green bottle, have been produced - and fans had the chance to have theirs autographed by Huckerby during an event at Bullards’ Chantry Place Gin Store and Tasting Room.

First in the queue to have their bottle signed was season ticket holder Anthony Yallop, who had travelled from Dereham to meet the city icon, whose on-field heroics he remembers watching from the stands at Carrow Road.

Bullards launched the new NCFC celebration gin last month to celebrate City's promotion back to the Premier League.

The company's founder Russell Evans said, "As the Spirit of Norwich and official gin partner of the club, we are super proud of our boys at Norwich City Football Club on their fantastic achievement this season.

“We were very excited to have such a legend of the club in our store to sign bottles, and the long queue of fans waiting to have their special bottles signed shows that Darren still occupies a special place in the hearts of City supporters.”

The ‘Goin’ Up’ celebration gin can be bought through Bullards’ website at www.bullardsspirits.co.uk, and at the firm’s Chantry Place store.
