NORWICH COMPANY OPENS UP ITS CAR PARK TO CHRISTMAS SHOPPERS IN AID OF NNAB

Norfolk’s sight loss charity is set to receive a five-figure windfall this Christmas thanks to the generosity of a major Norwich business – and of hundreds of festive shoppers.

The Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind has been chosen by staff at insurance firm Marsh to be the beneficiary of its annual ‘Open Car Park’, running every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas.

Shoppers can park all day in the firm’s Queens Road office car park for a minimum donation of £4 – with all proceeds going to support the work the NNAB does to enable those with sight loss to lead independent and fulfilled lives.

This is the 22nd time that the company has opened up its 347-space car park at Christmas for charity, with the 1,000 staff who work at the firm’s Norwich office voting which organisation will benefit.  In 2015 over £18,000 was raised for Norfolk First Responders.  Volunteers from Marsh and from the NNAB are spending their weekends marshalling the car park.

“We are extremely grateful to the Marsh and its staff for giving up both their car park and their time to help us raise vital funds,” said NNAB head of fundraising Jeremy Goss.  “And thank you also to the shoppers of Norwich, many of whom have donated more than the minimum £4, enabling us to maximise the money we raise over the five weekends leading up to Christmas.”

The Marsh charity car park is open every Saturday and Sunday up until Christmas, from 9.30am.  Entry is via St Stephen’s Road.
