Norfolk’s own ‘mini-Monet’ Kieron Williamson is to paint one of the dragons for next year’s GoGoDragons! Event in Norwich – and it will be auctioned at the end of the event to boost the amount raised for local charity Break.

Eleven-year-old Kieron’s works have seen unprecedented demand from collectors, with the biggest price achieved for one of his pictures being a staggering £45,000.  In 2013 his total sales broke the £1.5 million mark, with one exhibition earning £250,000 in 20 minutes.

The artistic coup was arranged by dragon sponsor Arnolds Keys, whose Keys Fine Art Auctioneers subsidiary has sold some of Williamson’s works.

Phil Cooper from Arnolds Keys said, “We decided early on to sponsor one of the dragons; once we had secured ‘our’ dragon, we set about thinking how we could use our expertise in the fine art world to create something which would be very special, and which would provide a big boost to the fund-raising side of the event.

“We are thrilled that Kieron has agreed to paint our dragon.  It will give thousands of people the chance to view his work close-up, and someone will eventually get to own a truly unique piece of Norfolk art.”

Michael Rooney of Break said, “Naturally Break is delighted that Kieron has agreed to get involved in the GoGoDragons! project.  We are extremely grateful to Kieron, his family, and Dragon sponsors Arnolds Keys for enabling this to happen.

“We are confident that GoGoDragons! will be a huge success for businesses, artists and the Norwich and Norfolk community.

“To have such a prodigious talent as Kieron involved increases the profile of the project, and will help raise funds for our work with local vulnerable children, young people and families.”

GoGoDragons! will run from 21st June to 5th September 2015 in Norwich city centre.  It is a Wild in Art event brought to the city by Break.  Further details can be found at www.gogodragons.co.uk, and on Twitter at @gogodragons2015 and by using the hashtag #GGD15.
