Two construction site managers from the same Norfolk-based house builder have been recognised as amongst the best in the UK for the second year in a row, both winning a prestigious ‘Pride in the Job’ Award from the National House Builders Confederation (NHBC).

Tim Walsingham and Danny Pinner both work for Watton-based Abel Homes, and the pair will now go forward to the NHBC’s ‘Seal of Excellence’ Award (an accolade which Mr Walsingham also won in 2018), the next stage in the annual search for the best site manager in the UK.

The pair have now notched up a staggering seven Pride in the Job Awards between them.

Mr Walsingham, from Yaxham, is senior site manager at the firm’s Swan’s Nest site in Swaffham.  This is the fourth time he has won a Pride in the Job Award; last year he won his second Seal of Excellence Award for his work at Swaffham, having previously won the accolade in 2009 for his work at an Abel Homes site in Hingham.  He joined the firm in 1999 as a digger driver.

Mr Pinner, from Castle Acre, joined Abel Homes in 2001 as an apprentice carpenter, working his way up to become a site manager in 2011.  This is the third time he has won a Pride in the Job Award.  He is currently site manager at the firm’s Walnut Tree Fields site in Mattishall.

The Pride in the Job Award is given following a ‘Michelin Guide’ style inspection by a NHBC inspector, who assess site managers against 38 strict criteria, including workmanship, excellent leadership skills, technical expertise, the ability to turn the designer’s intentions into reality, good health & safety standards and a commitment to raising standards.

Abel Homes chairman Tony Abel said, “Very few Pride in the Job Awards go to smaller house builders, so to win two is a reflection of the effort we put into keeping very high standards at all of our new home developments.

“We are very proud of both Tim and Danny for their achievements in winning the award for the second year in a row.  They have both worked their way up to their current positions during their time at Abel Homes, which is credit to their hard work, enthusiasm and great attitude.”

The pair will receive their awards at a ceremony in Leicester in September.
