A group of retired and semi-retired people who meet weekly in Great Yarmouth have stepped up to take part in a Norfolk charity’s anniversary fundraising challenge.

Great Yarmouth Probus club, which meets every Wednesday morning at the Royal Assembly Rooms enjoyed a presentation by members of staff from Vision Norfolk, the county’s sight loss charity – and handed over £200 of raffle proceeds to its 220 Challenge, which aims to raise £220,000 during its 220th anniversary year to help support vision impaired people throughout the county.

The club heard presentations on the work that the charity does throughout the county from Vision Norfolk fundraising manager Joe Russell and from Ed Bates, manager of Vision Norfolk’s Great Yarmouth hub, who has been blind since birth.

“It is always nice to get out into the community and tell people about how we support people living with sight loss in Norfolk to live independent lives,” said Mr Russell.

“It was very generous of Great Yarmouth Probus Club members to donate the proceeds of their raffle to Vision Norfolk’s anniversary appeal.”
