EXTENSIVE PERSONAL MUNNINGS COLLECTION UP FOR SALE
An extensive collection of letters, photographs, privately published pamphlets relating to Sir Alfred John Munnings will go under the hammer in Norfolk later this month as part of Keys Auctioneers and Valuers’ three day Fine Sale.
Included in the collection is a sketchbook with preparatory sketches for a number of paintings, including ‘Gypsy life’, Epsom Downs’, ‘City and Suburban Day’, ‘The Departure of the Hop-Pickers’ and ‘Gypsies on Epsom Downs – Derby Week’.
There is a large collection of letters from Alfred Munnings to friends, as well as a small quantity of letters from Lady Munnings. Photographs show Munnings and his family at home and at leisure, and two privately-printed pamphlets include additional hand-written verses.
The collection is completed by a thumb palette.
The pre-sale estimate is £10,000-£15,000.
