EARLY 20TH CENTURY ‘MOUSEMAN’ STOOL PART OF KEYS MODERN SALE

20th Aug 2020
Mouseman stool 1

An early 20th century oak stool by Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson, with signature mouse carving, is part of the 20th Century Design and Modern Art Sale at Keys Auctioneers and Valuers in Aylsham, Norfolk, on Friday 4th September.

Known as the ‘Mouseman of Kilburn’, Thompson (1876-1955) was an oak furniture designer and maker, renowned for featuring a carved mouse on almost every piece he made.  His workshop continues to make furniture in the Yorkshire town under the stewardship of his descendants. But pieces made during Thompson’s lifetime remain in most demand.

The pre-sale estimate is £300-£400.

The auction takes place online at bid.keysauctions.co.uk and at www.the-saleroom.com.
