DRINK DIFFERENT - THINK PINK FOR SUMMER LUNCHES

1st Jun 2017
New Zealand rose

At the time of writing we are still experiencing the last bite of winter, but hopefully by the time you read this your thoughts will be turning to al fresco lunches in the sunshine – and that can only mean one thing: a cold bottle of rosé.

The obvious – and delicious – choice is a pale Provence rosé, made from Grenache, Syrah and occasionally Cinsault grapes.  Dry and easy-drinking, this is the wine many of us have in mind when we dream about long, lazy lunches in the sunshine.

But if you’re looking for something different, especially to drink with food, then try one of the new breed of rosés from New Zealand.  Generally much more vibrant in colour, these wines are typically made with Pinot Noir or even Cabernet Sauvignon and boast red fruit and even lime notes on the palate.
