Norfolk’s sight loss charity has received a £300 boost thanks to kind-hearted King’s Lynn Corn exchange audience members at a recent show by comedian Chris McCausland.

The comedian allowed Vision Norfolk to hold a collection at his show on Friday 23rd January, the second time he has supported the charity in this way on his visits to the county.

The collection raised £300, which will be used to boost the range of services Vision Norfolk provides to people living with sight loss right across the county.  The charity’s King’s Lynn hub, based in Thoresby College in Queen Street, provides a range of support for vision impaired people, including in their own homes, as well as a vibrant programme of activities and trips.

McCausland, who is touring with his new show Yonks!, lost his sight due to a hereditary condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which causes a gradual degeneration of the retina.  By his early 20s he was completely blind.  As well as a successful comedy career, he won Strictly Come Dancing with professional dancer Dianne Buswell in 2024.

“We are hugely grateful to Chris, both for bringing so much joy to King’s Lynn with his show, and for allowing us to hold a collection as people left the theatre,” said Vision Norfolk chief executive Andrew Morter.

“Chris’s career and his amazingly positive attitude have been so inspiring for many people living with sight loss.  Once again he has also helped us support them in a tangible way by allowing us to raise funds at his show.”

Chris McCausland’s is also bringing his show Yonks! To Norwich’s Theatre Royal on Sunday 1st March.
