NORFOLK VINEYARD CARRIES OFF FIVE MEDALS IN WINEGB EAST AWARDS

A leading Norfolk vineyard has cemented its reputation as one of the best in the region after carrying off five medals in the WineGB East Awards.

Chet Valley Vineyard, which is in Bergh Apton in south Norfolk, won the five accolades, four of which were for its trademark sparkling wines. 

They included a Silver Medal for its Skylark Brut 2022, which is a traditional method white fizz made from a blend of Phoenix and Seyval Blanc grapes; and a Bronze Medal in its launch year for the vineyard’s Cuvee Royale, made from the three classic Champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Other Chet Valley wines to be recognised included its sparkling traditional method Blanc de Noirs, and its distinctive red sparkling wine, Red Kite.  The final accolade went to the 2023 vintage of its ‘Swift’ white wine, which is made from the Schönburger grape variety.

Crispin Binder, who took over as the new owner of Chet Valley Vineyard in June 2026, said, “We are delighted to have had so many of our wines recognised in this important awards scheme, which received a record number of entries from vineyards across East Anglia this year.

“We are particularly pleased to be recognised for our range of sparkling wines, which make up two-thirds of our production.”

The WineGB East Awards were judged by a panel of eight wine experts, with a total of 80 wines from 25 different East Anglian vineyards assessed.
